Voices in your head

We think, without saying the words, and usually this thinking is carried out in a language we understand and in a voice we are familiar with. The thoughts that rush through our minds throughout the day are made from this voice.

Certainly, it is in our language since our thought process is done with words and language as our understanding. We can however also think using pictures and images, such as is true for people who cannot hear, talk. This is true when we try to visualize things to find an understanding without any voices in our heads.

How much do we actually take notice of these voices in our heads? We know and understand what they say, as they are the truest form of ourselves and the way we think. We can often find that sometimes we might not agree to what the voices in our head say since we also learn that we need to be polite, kind, thoughtful and caring people, though at the same time the voices in our head are what our minds think of at first.

I'm sure that there are people who can relate with me, when i say that there are what seems like more than a single voice. Like how they are represented in cartoons, being a devil and an angel. This difference can be understood as this since the tone of the voice might change when the opinion of the voice in our heads change. We process information as we get it and work it our in our minds. This can change consistently as we get more information and change our minds.

My point about the voices in heads today relates to how we sometimes choose to hide our thoughts and feelings which we find these voices talking of. These thoughts we sometimes feel we cannot share as we find it might be embarrassing, impolite and even perhaps feel exposed, as these are our closest and most true thoughts. We can think about the thoughts in our mind and if we ponder on them a little more, we will realize how we really feel about something and what choices we have.

There are times which we experience that we speak of the words that come to mind before we can ponder on it too much. These people we know sometimes as being impulsive and sometimes brash and too honest, though put in the same situation, you would probably have the same thoughts come into your mind and the only difference would be that you chose not to act on your first thoughts.

Whats the voices in your head are saying? ^_^

time reality

"Ever been in a place, where all your thoughts are in a race...
Filling up voids, making use of your time, being lost.
Every second not used, gone, would never be achieved
again, yet, every moment left, and yet to come, has
unlimited potential, and positively totally free of
choice. Decisions made, influence your time, yet time
shouldn't influence your decision.
Everyone lives to die, yet everything in-between
means what you make it to be."

The above was written a few years ago, by myself during a time when i just started work, and was thinking about time and how are we affected by it also how we can perhaps have an influence on it. The way we can make ourselves live lives which are more meaningful.

First, i chose to acknowledge the facts, which are that we exist with free thinking minds. We shall one day die as well. The time we have at our disposal is in-between these two points. We come into this world knowing very little except to live, and live is what we do. We learn of the complexities, and progress on. We find our styles, our communities and even our self-identities. With all of this, we become as we are known today.

Looking back we realize that we have learnt at an alarming rate, if we can appreciate the small intricacies, such as the way we learn to control the very muscles in our finger's to form neat words on a page.

In essence, today what i think of, is the same every time i read this extract which i came up a few years ago. It helps me put myself in a frame of mind that takes me away from being caught up with the everyday rituals we get used to , and face a reality i choose. The reality i want to live, and the reality which i can have an influence on.

We do make wrong choices often, but we also have the capacity to learn. So, use your time wisely and be certain to not get caught up and feeling down as you 'have' to do something.

a place to belong

The feeling of rushing air through your hair, or the smell of a place you don't really know may bring some type of excitement to certain peoples lives. The scenes from all over, with the different weathers and different climates, are all enticing and a welcome to anyone who has some amount of exploring in their hearts. Using our lifetimes and the vastness of everything which exists as a yard stick, we certainly know that there is so much out there for us to explore and experience.

In this age, we can go around the globe as effectively as we can ever imagine. The furthest place that we can find now days would be just a few days away. Our potential for exploration is vast and certainly almost too much.

As we are, we can appreciate exploration and discovery of things in many different ways. We can find new places, people, food, views all the time, and thus we can learn to appreciate a little bit about everything. The one thing about exploring far and wide places, helps us in understanding ourselves to an extent, the type of people we are, and the way we do things. When we go away from home, all the things we see after that, we judge to what we know best, and that is our place of origin, or rather home.

The place we grow up physically and as a person has many details of which we take for granted and overlook many of the time. The time we do appreciate these things more is when we realize just how much we have taken for granted. There are lots of people who move away from their homes to work in far off places with new jobs and new lives, but there is always an affinity to the place they used to call home.

We look for belonging, people we can talk to, a place we can say is ours. From the type of wind that blows, to the snows that fall during the latest months of winter. All of this is what makes our homes special, and a place where we definitely belong.

What makes our home important, is the relationships we have with the people around us.

Where do you belong?

Expressions of a being: once created, once destroyed

By writing this down, i am certainly using a form of expression that all of you who read this would know. This is merely a single way which we understand about expression and what it is.

We are a creation that has been made with minds that can think for ourselves and have feelings and emotions. We have senses and we interact with our surroundings all the time. The way we feel, think, act and see things all are tied to how we express ourselves.

From what our concise understanding of our realities at this moment, we know that we are created, brought into this world as an individual, a single being with a single mind. When we die, we shall go with our minds and conscious. During the time which we are alive on this earth, we shall express ourselves in many different ways so as to interact with our surroundings and mainly the people around us. Our earliest experience with expression is perhaps when we 'kick' from the insides of our mothers bellies.

We grow up, and we cry for pain, attention, because we are sad. We also learn expressions from the people around us, such as smugness, disgust, boredom, etc. these are the more natural forms of expression, though there do exist more elaborate ways to express ourselves.

We know of people who are celebrities and can be classified as eccentric, since they let their actions and roles in the media be the way the express themselves. Musicians do it via music, dancing, videos and of-course the lyrics in their songs.

Our expressions exist also in a conscious and subconscious level. The shapes our faces make, the way we speak, the way we write things down, even sometimes the way we draw things. Our minds might not comprehend exactly what we might be doing to the fullest extent, but we may also have our subconscious putting together our feelings and expressing them for us!

Whichever it is, expression is our route to interaction. The way we do it, affect the people around ourselves and also the way the react to us. A lot of us are afraid of expressing ourselves, since we feel that the reactions we may get might be scary. We need to loose this fear and understand how we appreciate it when people we care about express themselves to us.

So then, what are you going to write about? what kind of picture would you compose? how will you walk?
In essence, we all have some way with which we express ourselves, and to us, if we can find the appreciation really of this, it is art! To me, the art of life on lived/living.

express and learn more of yourself...

deeper than knowing

What do you think of when you watch a show, read a book, say something? What aspects of a certain thing brings your attention to it?
The unknown questions we find ourselves asking in our minds are the type of things that we make our impressions on situations in everyday life. Depending on how we relate to these impressions, we give more attention to it or we let it slip by and move onto the next thing.

There are people in this world which we can almost feel like we can tell so much about them by just looking at them, or even talking to them for a little while, but there are also lots of people that are really really hard to read and determine the type of person they are.
We all usually fall prey to judging people from the time we see them, as their outlook is what we have to use from the beginning.. This however may not be the case as we know that people don't always look like the person you would expect them to be.

The way people are with their actions, responses and reactions are the small glimpses into how their minds work, and the type of person they are. These kind of things are what allows us to determine if a person is worthy of our attention, or if we are going to make an attempt to gain the attention to the aforementioned person. These things also depend on the interaction between different people, as people also act differently towards different people depending on their views.

There are people who like finding stable people who are easy to predict and calm and even. Then there are people who are exciting, impulsive and not so stable but can be expected to do things that you wouldn't necessarily have done or thought they would do. This does not mean that the latter is untrustworthy, but rather a bit more complex than predictable.

I feel that these type of complex people are what makes life more interesting and have a lot to share in terms of interaction and the way they carry out their lives. People who take time to think about things tend to be more caring. This caring nature may exist in simpler people, but i think that it is without much passion. The fact i also think is true, is that i feel that everyone is complex to an extent and the only difference is the reaction with whom they are like that with.

People have different phases in their life in terms of what they want and what makes them feel safe/happy, but in the end, i think that the main quality that endures is the one of someone who always has something to share, or for you to discover about them. I like discovering, and sometimes even if it may be like a hunt of sorts, but certainly there is a lot to learn about people if you make the effort.

how complex are you then? :-)

To ponder on..i think..

There exist times during everyone's lives where they have all the energy and motivation to get up and just keep moving till they are tired, and then move some more! The inverse is also true in that we find people who get up and just don't do anything, and when they need to, they don't really do anything anyway!

Procrastination, the reasons i think it exists and the reasons we find ourselves procrastinating.

Don't you know that feeling so well when your sleep gets disturbed at an absurdly early time so that you may get ready for work and be early missing the traffic. The choice to set you alarm was done when you was in a determined mood to get things working, planned and going along smoothly. That however changes when the actual planned time to carry out what we planned arrives, and then we procrastinate, thinking about all the excuses we can come up with to not wake up. This is a typical case of procrastinating.

We find people who constantly feel like they are brooding, procrastinating about stuff, weighing the importance of doing anything about it to the actual completion of it. This could be a bad quality to have, as we all mostly find ourselves doing it, and do believe that it is the 'devil' persuading them. However, thinking about it a bit more, what would the converse be like?

Imagine a life where we didn't procrastinate. We would all go through with our work and decisions, perhaps without thinking enough on it. We may jump too quickly into things making hasty decisions. Without procrastination, we could find ourselves getting caught into making decisions without the option of delaying some things perhaps to make a better informed decision.

Procrastination forms a part of how we are made, and allows us to make decisions as well and spend enough time thinking on it. We all work comfortably setting adequate time frames in our mind, yet when we procrastinate, we realize that we can get stuff we usually do in a stricter time regiment, and we put this off till later.

Sometimes we can extract the good parts of procrastinating, but just having the ability to, makes us resourceful. We can use this to think more about what we are doing and carrying out, but there has to be a balance, since we cannot procrastinate about certain things till forever. So getting up and doing things is important and rewarding, but some level of procrastination would also allow us to understand what we can do and how to more efficiently carry out things or make decisions.

A little procrastination is good for the soul!

Everyone is a scholar and a teacher

Discoveries are made at every second, every moment, every time. From the time we are brought into this world, till the time we pass on, we all discover a multitude of things. We learn about our surroundings, our interactions and also about ourselves to an extent.

People have been discovering things from the very first occurrence of humans. We discovered how to communicate, and passed this on, we discovered how to eat, live and passed all of this on as well. We constantly have these questions we find in our minds such as who thought that milking a cow would give us milk that we can drink. When discoveries are made, people learn them, record them in some way (the beginning of songs and rhymes before we learnt to write) and pass them on to following generations. As these get passed on, they get refined, and we advance/progress in our understanding. This process has been carrying on since the very beginning, and we find ourselves understanding so much about our surroundings and ourselves today.

We do however sometimes feel that we may know too much as a human race to progress any further, and thus have an outlook to life that we are fine as we are, but this seems to me to be a flawed case, since i believe that we have to keep evolving to survive with our ever changing environment and circumstance. We do make mistakes and also carry these forward, but we are however naive to the detrimental outcomes of these things until very much later. Classic examples of these kinds of mistakes are the ones of carbon emissions into our atmosphere causing a depletion in the ozone layer, pollution of our surroundings which kill the lands, even in the past working with substances that have an effect on our health such as Asbestos fibers.

On an individual scale of a single human being's lifespan, we find that we make our own discoveries from the time we are made. We develop and learn things consciously and subconsciously.

My point for today is that everyone of us have the potential to discovery of things which have not yet been discovered, and we should take advantage with this. We can make all the discoveries we want but none of it would be useful unless we can share it and pass it on. This brings me to the point of education, which is one of the main sources for our individual discoveries. We learn lots of things through being educated, and we also learn in some ways, to teach ourselves, and hence progress. We need to be able to encourage each other and learn from each other.

Education is a cornerstone in our existence and development. The way we can deal with life, depend on what we learn and how we apply ourselves. We are all potentially the best teachers for the things we understand the most, and we all need to be scholars to those teachers who understand things better than us.

Go teach someone something and learn to understand what they have to offer as well. We are a great creation, let try and fulfill our capacities.

whats your secret?

People are diverse and different in so many ways. Everyday we generally have contact with people who we are used to and some not so used to, but how much do we really know about the people around us. How much is there really to know about someone, anyone? Can you really know a person as much as you think there is to know about somebody?

People are complex, and have cognitive minds. We think and make decisions based on what we know and how we process information we receive. We learn from a young age not to generally speak of everything that comes to mind as it does not always fit the moment. We all know that children with their naive minds can at times say the most embarrassing things with total innocence, but we learn better of this as we get older, we learn to keep thoughts in our minds until they are of use to us.

Some of these thoughts are mostly secrets, such as things we learn of when we not supposed to, our passwords, information that would be detrimental if let out. I think that these types of 'secrets' are found in every single person, and is a natural way for a persons self preservation. For example: We wouldn't let out a secret about ourselves, such as a seeing deficiency or if it would hinder us from gaining an advantage of owning a certain kind of car perhaps.

People, do however, let out secrets about themselves and about the way they feel with certain other people. These people are mostly people they trust with the information, to not hurt them, or perhaps serve justice or even like for a loved one to share the secret in itself.

People are complex and deep, sometimes without their own understanding. We can however learn the most of this kind of thing by introspection. We can look carefully towards ourselves and have some sort of understanding to what we can appreciate about someone. People who have a simple outlook to life and are generally happy about staying just how they are, might have been through plenty rough times to be satisfied with how they are.

Getting to know people, we need to realize that everyone has things that they don't share with you at the beginning, yet this does change with trust and time. People minds adapt based on their ideals and wants. All people are generally selfish, and thus have goal they pursue which are mostly for self gain/progress. The meaningful bit about people, is when they feel that they can share their 'secrets' about their dreams and aspirations.

People are of a complex design, and there is much to understand about ourselves, characteristics and appreciate everyone without making a wrong impression. I personally like complex people who have lots to share over time, and discovering the details about a person make it all the more interesting.

Discover yourself, as you are the one person you can be the most honest with, then you would appreciate other people all the more. :-)

selfless selfish

Selfishness, in something we are know and feel a lot of the time. It can also be thought of as self preservation to an extent, since being selfish is to care more about oneself than another. In life, we find ourselves in positions where we have to make choices and decisions. Lots of these decisions affect us personally, and hence we have an inbuilt bias towards making a decision that would benefit us in the best way possible.

Being selfish, a person can get caught up and totally worry about themselves first and not think of the 'whole picture' as it would be. People makes decisions sometimes that would keep more food for themselves to take home, or sometimes, make it easier to get their way. These kinda of selfish things we do, are known to us before we make them, but there is also another type of selfishness that we have that we do not realize, as we either don't know that we commit them, or we are naive of the effect our choices make.

There are lots of people in our world who feel selfish to things around them, such as communities, wealth, weather even and sometimes people. Some people call it patriotism, others comrade-ism. One of the most difficult things to do, is to be unselfish/selfless. Looking back into our historical archives we will find many many people who are described as pure and holy, perhaps on another level as ourselves. They are also almost always put in the same category as being selfless. Examples like Mother Teressa, Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela show us what certain type of selfless people there exist, worrying the least about themselves but more about the people around them. Though the communities that are left behind are so caught up in their lives and small thoughts that they become selfish with these people as classifying them to be only for themselves (such as political antics and cultural, even to religious factions. The truth of the matter, is that these people are so selfless that they would act for the advantage of anyone who seemed oppressed and mistreated.

Although we all don't have the advantage of having the same aptitude as these people, we can try and aspire to be like them. Even thought that sometimes we may seem more selfish than not, we can also at times do our best to be selfless. We can perhaps not waste food, not litter, not do something to spite someone. These might seem insignificant, but the fact that we change our attitude is meaningful. Imagine of a world where anywhere you may go, people just like you would do selfless things to make life easier for everyone! This is an ideal and may never happen, but there is nothing stopping us from trying to at least bring some of it into our lives.

At the moment with some introspect, i know myself to be a bit selfish at at times, and i even remember myself giving advice to some people to being selfish with their feeling because not everyone is as caring that we would like, but at the same time i strive to be as selfless as possible, for we are here on this very earth physically only for a short time, and we will leave everything behind. What we can do is live a life of quality, and thus be happy.

Before we do something or say something, we should think about what other people would feel by our words, actions and even thoughts. We should literally try and think about the possible situations that we may not know of a person before judging them according to our standards.

dreams floating on ice cream flavoured moonlight...

One more day till I'm officially going to have a well sought after break! Thoughts i find myself wondering about today, seem to have a feeling of need, desire and wants. These thoughts, lead onto progressive items which relate comfort and even ideals. The end product we usually find ourselves talking of, make up most of our dreams and aspirations.

Dreams are the places where we can be the BEST ever, such as have inhuman abilities, or travel to impossible places, perhaps even of a time where what we say, mention or just think off, happens. This is the nature of dreams, a byproduct of our subconscious minds.

What we dream, can be scientifically defined as our subconscious making a collage of our thoughts and of what we see, in a form which end up as an end product of what we see as our dreams. In dreams there are still issues which still hang in the balance. With some of the cutting edge technology available, scientists can measure brainwaves to an extent, and thus can define a state of sleep in which we may be, but the actual method of making dreams, and our feelings to the different images and thoughts we experience cannot be pinned down. One of the many mysteries unsolved by the human race.

Dreams are unbound to our understanding, though we can dream of things our minds can conceptualize or rather imagine. We can even solve analytical problems, and make decisions during our sleep as well. This makes it an important part of our lives as well during which we are awake. This ability to dream and think in our capacities, greatly expand and widen our abilities and the way we live. We can make use of this hidden reservoir of intellect and purposefully "follow your dreams".

There are many many things in our vast universe that not all of us can understand and comprehend. Such things as how the universe began, or did it ever begin in the first place? What happens to our minds/souls when we die, is it truly dependent on our brains functioning? we cannot comprehend these sort of things completely as we cannot understand it.

What dreams do is to help our minds dwell on things that we come into contact with, and thoughts that we have hanging in our minds. This repeated exposure to these item help us find solutions and realize our understanding.

Dreams are gateways to our own unique worlds where we live whilst not living on this physical world, and live an entirely different life to it all. so go ahead, dream of places far away, with mansions made of water, and stairways into the clouds, for these are dreams, and we live in them as surely as we live in this world.

tools of the trade

Winter is back, well almost! brings almost a crispness to everything, and makes me realize (again) that the way you feel has some major effect on how you act. The chill keeps everything clear and especially with its slight tinge of cold bite. I would go as far as describing breathing the cooler air even more pleasurable.

On a day like this, we should talk about progress in ourselves and in essence the entire human race. Progress is how we develop and advance as explained in my earlier posts, yet today i will write on the actual process and perhaps some of the understanding i have of it.

We all start learning with our minds and wonderful brains from way before we can even realize it. From the moment our bodies learn to do things which are instinctual or handled by our subconscious, to opening our eyes, crying when we are hungry as babies, to learning balance, copy expressions and all the way to where we are today. Many scholars would know the saying : "seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave" and this is what our bodies do without us realizing it. The problem is that we don't fully understand our bodies well enough to know that whilst we might be doing what seems to be good to help our health, we might be forcing ourselves to be worn down in other area,

for example: painkillers are used these days to satisfy our most feeble of whims, even just the onset of a headache, we go for a painkiller (usually in tablet form). This helps us feel better giving us relief, but what most of us don't realize is that our body gets used to this feeling and becomes immune to the initial dosage and over time we have to acquire a larger dosage for the same effect. At the same time, taking these tablets, also have residue which flow in our systems, and has to be dealt with in our bodies and the main recipients of this is our kidneys thus requiring them to work overtime. Sometimes, these residues also build up over time and create complications with our kidneys such as kidney stones.

Moving on, we know that our bodies learn subconsciously, and our minds develop with our repeated exposure to our environments and stimulus (such as books, internet, texts, meeting, people, etc). My question is then, what is the best way to best develop our minds in an efficient way that would produce consistent results.

Currently, we attend schools which are our way or learning and studying, getting exposure to the different subjects that we need to learn off and become familiar with in order to understand and advance ourselves in our thinking. There is a difference how ever in the way things are taught at schools and hence transferred onto the students. The actual reason for going to school is actually blurred to an extent that most peoples perceptions are that we go to school to learn things so that we can get a qualification to get a job and earn a living. What we learn at schools is the actual content of knowledge. We learn facts and names, places and date, yet we tend to learn little of how to and what to do to all this information on our own devices.

What we actually need are the tools to learn, and not the content itself, since if we are given the tools properly, we can educate ourselves at any time and place, be it at school itself or not. These kind of tools are the building blocks of understanding.

We can however learn throughout our lives, and if we were of the unfortunate who never really got proper exposure to these kind of tools, we can  still discover and learn. So , if we know its exists we can pursue our understanding and progress in life.

Taking control of ourselves

After quite an interesting weekend, I decided to start the week of writing about the idea of our senses and how we interpret, learn and deal with them.

As we all know, the way we interact with our surroundings consist of our physical bodies, and the interfaces would be our skins, eyes, tongue, nose and ears (sensory organs). These then transmit the inputs they receive to our brains, and in turn our brains interpret them. When we get hurt, we 'feel' it. When pain occurs, we sometimes choose to use painkillers to dull the sensation of these inputs via our nerves in the affected areas. This shows us that we can manipulate our brains in ignoring pain, and hence, carry on without much change in the rest of our bodies function.

Of-course there are limits to this, but that brings me to my point for today, and that is the manipulation of our brains, a type of conditioning for us to deal with things/issues and in a more holistic picture, life.

Just as how we gain our sense of balance at a very young age, when balance itself must have been one of the most difficult things to obtain then, we take for granted now. This is true since we practiced and fumbled, until we finally could take those first few steps then run, jump and other motions of the sort. In this same way, we learn to heighten our sensitivity to our surroundings over time and with practice.Example: for a right handed person can usually 'feel' more details with their right hand, or can carry out more intricate control, such as writing. Also, with the example of using a blind person and  braille. They can read fully formed words and books by means of indentations on a surface using dots, while, an average seeing person, who hasn't learnt to read braille, wouldn't be able to make out the difference in the indentations. This is because those who can read braille, have developed a better sense of sensitivity with touch.

In this similar way, i feel that we can not only teach ourselves to dull pain, or heighten our sense to experience a higher resolution of our surroundings, but also use it as a tool that would help us deal with issues which are not so physical, such as the loss of loved ones, or the hurt of heartbreak and other things as such.

If we use our brilliant minds, to practice enough about the possible unbearable situations which we may have to face in life and how would we best deal with them, we can perhaps make ourselves better at dealing with our mind issues such as stress, distress, etc.

A good practice way to start with this type of conditioning, is to figure out what would be one of the most distressful situations that you may come across during life, and while you are in a stable frame of mind, you can decide on how you would deal with this kind of occurrence. What you would do, what would be the first steps that are required, and also, what plans you may, or may not need to be in place. By constantly thinking about other such things, we can learn to deal with these thing in much better manner, as practiced familiarity, rather than acting as clumsy fools with realization for the first time when it occurs. Although, there is very little you can do to change the facts, you can change the way you deal with them, and from what i feel, i think that this is the best method of doing so.

On a brighter note, this practice seems to involve a lot of negative thoughts, but from personal experience, I'm more of an optimist and always look for the best possible result of things. When something bad happens, i usually know how to deal with it, and look for the best way too look at the bright side of things.

This you can say is like if you understand something, then you are in a better position to deal with it. My aim, is for us to better understand these feelings, and so then in essence live a happier life with less hurt, pain, distress, stress etc.

Go ahead, take control :-)
