walk the walk

Clear thoughts and clear words. Expressions that show just the right emotions and not a hint of fear or reprieve. This is what i think of when i try to picture a confident person. Confidence is a quality that not every person has or comes to naturally, though it is something that we can achieve.

To be confident, we can further describe it as knowing exactly what we are doing and what we want to do and how to execute it successfully. We would have no doubts in our ability and at the same time no fear of failing in what we do. Since we cannot just do anything perfectly from the first time we do it, we require practice and mastering the skill required, like how you would have confidence in speaking a certain new language only after you have learnt it properly. In the same way we cannot always be confident in what we do for the first time.

Sometimes we will come across things we do that even though we practice it and do the best we can to master it, we still cannot find the confidence in ourselves for it such as if we had to learn archery and we master it, but when put in a situation such as shooting a target of a living person, we loose confidence in our abilities, which brings me to another concept which is important to having confidence, and that is bravery.

As the saying goes: "you can do the talk, but can you walk the walk?", is a nice way of noticing the difference. In our minds, we can be confident of what we do and be prepared, so we can talk the talk, but to walk the walk we need to find the bravery within ourselves.

Brave people are people who can be classified with people who take risks even when the odds are against them. Brave people are not always the people that come out on top, but we know certainly that brave people can make a difference, in a good and bad way as well. Not only are heroes brave, but in the same way, so are the bad guys. The difference lies only with what each want to accomplish.

There are times when we feign confidence and put on a mask just to hide our true intentions and feelings such as sometimes when people get stage fright, they train themselves to keep the audience from knowing by the figurative mask they use. A brave person uses this to get over the lack of confidence for this type of purpose.

In the end we find reasons in our life for being confident and for acting confident. Being brave and acting brave. The ways we show ourselves out in this world is the way the world would react to us. We have an influence over this. This is the same reason we convince ourselves to be brave during times of hardship and confident when making important decisions or carrying out important tasks. Be brave and have confidence in what you do.
